Seriously though that transmission is terrible, and really does sap the joy out of driving. Only positive is auto Miatas can be had for pennies on the dollar

If you can get both at the same price (let’s say a bargain price), 240SX. Why? Because of Drift Tax. Drift Tax makes mint ones un-buyable at a reasonable price. That’s where you win. You wanna sell it? Sell it at a much higher price than the price you bought it. Then there’s the automatic issue...an automatic Miata? Hell no man.

I had that motor in my little 1990 hardbody - torquey but ran out of steam quick. Not as nice at the revvy SE-R 2.0 or even the current 2.5.

Not that much has changed, lots of new members and a few have gone off the radar. It actually feels almost more popular than it did a couple years ago, which is pretty cool.
But aside from the occasional massive drama, everything is pretty much the same.
Kinja still never works right though haha :)

240 because the manual is basically the only thing that makes an NA Miata fun. Even with an auto a 240 is still a reasonably decent cruiser with a big 4-cylinder.

S13 even if the Miata was a stick. 1. I don’t want a convertible of any sort. 2. The S13 chassis can be tailored to your needs across a broader range of motorsport. I see plenty of S13's drag racing and high speed racing. Stock the S13 is not as good of a car as the Miata, but has a different kind of potential. Watching the LS swap that Carlos Laga did for Motor Trend sealed the deal for me.
